Thank you for your interest in my research, “The Road to the Sideline: Investigating the Impact of the Rooney Rule on the Recruitment and Advancement of Black Coaches in the National Football League (NFL).” After years of dedicated work, I am proud to share what I believe is the first scholarly study centered on the lived experiences of Black coaches in the NFL.

Sports transformed my life, instilling discipline, resilience, and the value of having someone believe in my potential. This project was more than an academic pursuit—it was a personal mission to shed light on systemic barriers and bring forward new perspectives that can help advance equity for Black coaches in professional football.
I hope you find the study both insightful and thought-provoking.
Regards,
Enrique Washington, Ph.D.
